Katherine Bellando
Certified Health and Nutrition Coach I am a health coach, avid traveler, runner, skier, and healthy lifestyle advocate. I have always been active and diligent with my diet, more out of the desire to live a long, adventurous, healthy life than anything else. My passion for healthy eating was always shadowed by the "what if I go back to school to legitimately understand nutrition?" question - especially while working at Self Magazine for over five years, surrounded by the worlds smartest nutritionists, fitness instructors, health and wellness editors and more. It was my lack of feeling "qualified" enough to actually help others and give advice that drove me to want to learn more. Years in the publishing, boutique fitness (Flywheel Sports) and pharmaceuticals industries (working for a consumer product for endurance athletes) led me to signing up for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Program. And guess where I work now? IIN! Sure I could do a Tough Mudder, Civilian Military Combine, run the 2014, 2021 & 2023 NYC Marathon, and countless other races, but did I actually know what I was talking about when it came to fueling myself? I knew what I was craving, what to eat to sustain these training programs, but I wanted to officially know why these foods were helpful. That's where IIN helped me. One thing that is for sure is that I have always viewed food as medicine. I know how I feel after eating a healthy meal, and have learned ways to eat my way out of anything from a headache to heartbreak. IIN not only educated me, but solidified my belief that food and exercise has the uncanny ability to make us feel better in ways that medicine and prescriptions simply cannot achieve. If we learn to understand our bodies — our holistic being — we can focus on making healthier habits, eating foods that make us feel good, understand our mental health, develop relationships that make us happy, and find passion in life. My goal is to help you do the same and live your most fulfilling life. You can experience the transformation I had with IIN, too. More of my Story
For as long as I can remember, health and wellness has been the foundation of my being. I have always been mindful and concerned about my health - from my diet, to exercise, to my work ethic and my dedication to family and friends. That doesn't mean that I've always been the most healthy, let alone informed person I know. Perhaps it was having scoliosis, and wearing a back brace that made me aware of my health and how important exercise and movement on a daily basis is, or perhaps it was acknowledging the impact that PCOS had on my body image and mood, it could have also been the incredibly harsh reality check my family and I endured that proved that mental health is one of the most important issues we face today.
Regardless, when I finally realized that I wanted to be more informed, not only for myself, but for others, I took the first step and signed up to be an IIN Health and Nutrition Coach. I did this to heal myself, and as a result, I have more knowledge and tools to share so YOU can heal yourself, too. I like a good drink, I like to steam my veggies, I don't get as much sleep as I should, I spread myself too thin, I exercise and take care of my skin, I care about others, am always curious to learn more, and am compassionate when it comes to helping others find their inner peace.
