Trader Joe's hit the jackpot when they created the "everything but the bagel" seasoning. Little did they know that this mix would be used to recreate the experience and flavors of a bagel in such a variety of ways?
I love this mix and use it on nearly everything. Recently I was craving the flavors of my favorite bagel - but not the heavy carbs - so considering I'm far from NYC at the moment, I took to the kitchen and attempted to concoct my own seasoning with what we had in the pantry.
Based on what we had, and the variety of Chosen Food's avocado oil cooking sprays, I came up with what I feel is the next big thing. Everything Bagel almonds.
1 cup plain almonds
.5 teaspoon dried onion seasoning
.5 teaspoon sesame seeds
.5 teaspoon garlic powder
.5 teaspoon sea salt
.5 teaspoon poppy seeds (if you have them, I didn't)
Chosen Foods Chili Lime Ginger Spray
Pre-heat oven to 350. Spray baking sheet with avocado oil. Set aside. Spray almonds with avocado oil to coat so the seasoning will stick. In a mixing bowl, add almonds, and all spices and stir together to coat evenly. Spread almonds on greased baking sheet. Place in oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Be sure to monitor almonds as depending on your oven's strength, the oil from the almonds can cause burning.
